• Pasco Level of Service Improvements

TBBA continues to work with regulatory agencies on the level of service. If you're doing business in Pasco County, please read the message below from Sally Sherman, Assistant County Administrator.

I understand the frustration with service delivery from our team but please know that we are desperately working to process the high volume of activity that is being received.  The strategy being used to address this problem is understanding our current workflow and continuously identifying key areas of focus in improving process and available resources.  Next, there is a prioritization of the key areas of focus which has led to adding team members (permanent and temporary),  approving overtime, putting in place other tools to increase team efficiency, evaluating and addressing workflow bottlenecks,  working with Jennifer and have put in place a temporary waiver of fees for Private Providers that have gone into effect on Jan. 11th.   Also, an important part of the strategy is to keep the team motivated and excited about knowing that they are making a difference. I am hearing everyone else in the region is doing it better, so I will be reaching out to our colleagues in the region to gain insight from them.
Here are the final CY 2020 building permit numbers for Pasco County and yes, I get it, the volume is what it is, fix the problem.  However, I wanted to share the information.
Total New Single Family Residential (SFR) permits: 5,741; 32% above CY19
Total New SFR value: $2.0B; 50% above CY19 (the average new home permit value was $351k, 13% above last year).
Total New Commercial permits: 581; 16.7% above CY19
Total New Comm value: $598M; 106% above CY 19
Total (inc. all other permits) permit value added is $3.25B; 52% above CY19
. The total number of permits issued was 55,519; 7% above CY19.
    Some interesting notes:
    • Since 2012 we had not issued more than 500 SFR permits in a single month, that is until July and now we’d exceeded that mark 6 months in a row with one month over 600.
    • The non-new construction permits were up 4.3% and beat 9 of the 12 Year over Year months in 2019 (Feb/Apr/May were the three missed and Apr/May are obviously COVID related).
