SB 250 Natural Emergencies Pauses Hillsborough County from Increasing Inspection Building Fees Indefinitely

Memorandum -  SB 250 Natural Emergencies Pauses Hillsborough County from Increasing Inspection Building Fees Indefinitely

Effective January 1, 2023, local governments located in areas designated in the Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster declarations for Hurricane Ian or Hurricane Nicole may not raise building inspection fees, as authorized by s. 125.56(2) or s. 166.222 and this section, before October 1, 2024. This subsection expires June 30, 2025.

Hillsborough staff is working with the legal department to separate the inspection fees from the building permit fees, but there will not be an increase nor changes to the comp plan or LDR until October 1, 2024, at the earliest. This could impact staffing and permit times. TBBA will continue to monitor and report back with updates.
