    • We have been fully engaged with the city staff. The greatest concern currently is the on-going issues related to the processing problems associated with Accela.  The issues are chronic and deserve immediate attention. We have waited months for the city or the provider to address the problems. The city staff is aware of the problems.
    • We have taken a lead role regarding the new policy and technical standards with artificial turf. We have had several meetings with city staff and installers to develop reasonable standards for the installation of artificial turf. We were also able to have the city suspend issuing building citations while we work out the details.
    • Working with the city building department we have been advised that the CBO has approved Troy Chavez to expanding the "virtual inspections" options to assist in speeding up the review and inspection process.
    • Live meetings are back in session with city staff.
    • The HOA's are proposing to change the required notice area from 250 feet to 1350 feet for any project more than 3 units. This matter goes to Tampa City Council on October 6th. Support and engagement are encouraged to assist City of Tampa GA TBBA immediately.

Numerous regulations important to the industry are currently proposed for amendment. Now is the time to comment if you have concerns.

Building Fees: Hillsborough County is conducting a building fee study which will result in increased fees as further discussed in the materials below. We expect the study and the commensurate fee increases will be placed on the September 21st BOCC agenda with the proposed new fees going into effect on January 1st. The County wants to hear from you on this so reach out to Lauren Morgan with any questions or concerns. We can schedule a conference call or meeting with County staff to discuss your issues.

    Proposed Fee Schedule
    User Fee Study

Hearings: Zoning Hearing Master policy changes raise concerns for the industry with changes to verbal public comment periods, the ability for applicant representatives to respond to Commissioner statements and changes to community meeting requirements. TBBA continues to advocate on all these issues as they have long-term implications. We will continue to advocate for inclusion in these important discussions and provide input on behalf of the industry.

Future Land Use: The Planning Commission has procured a consultant to help evaluate and provide recommendations on the update to the Future Land Use Section of Tampa’s Comprehensive Plan. Staff and consultants from the Planning Commission will attend the next Hillsborough GA meeting scheduled for 11:30 on September 12th to provide additional details on this Future Land Use Assessment phase. Plan to come out and share your insights.
